1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Avero Academy (ABN 85 891 305 291) ("we", "us"). They apply when you use our website, the free entrance exam, the missions and any membership.
By signing up or using Avero Academy you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
2. Who can use Avero Academy
Avero Academy is made for children aged 8 to 12, but our agreement is with you, their parent or guardian. You must be 18 or over to sign up, join a waitlist or pay.
You're responsible for your child's use of Avero Academy, for the device and internet connection they use, and for supervising them to the degree that suits their age.
3. The free entrance exam
The entrance exam is a free seven-day series of missions. No payment details are needed. We send each day's mission to the email address you give us.
"Entrance exam", ranks and clearance levels are part of the Avero Academy story. They are not a formal educational assessment, a school admission test or a qualification.
We may change, pause or end the free entrance exam at any time.
4. Founding member deposits
A founding member deposit reserves your place at the founding member price when membership opens. The deposit is fully refundable on request at any time before your first membership payment is taken. When you join, the deposit is credited towards your first payment. If membership doesn't open within six months of your deposit, we'll refund it automatically.
5. Membership and payment
There are two ways to pay for membership. Both cover your whole family for one price.
- Monthly membership renews automatically each month and is charged to your payment method until you cancel. There is no minimum term.
- Single month pass is a one-off payment for one month of access. It doesn't renew and there is nothing to cancel.
Prices are shown in Australian dollars at checkout and include GST where it applies. Payments are processed by Stripe.
If we change the price of monthly membership, we'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies so you can cancel first if you wish.
6. Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel monthly membership at any time by emailing hello@averoacademy.com or using the cancellation link we provide. Cancellation stops future payments. Your access continues until the end of the month you've already paid for.
We don't normally refund a month that has already started. If something has gone wrong, such as a duplicate charge or missions you couldn't access, contact us and we'll put it right.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If there is a major failure with the service, you're entitled to cancel and receive a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
7. What Avero Academy is and isn't
Missions are aligned to the Australian Curriculum, created in consultation with teachers and homeschool educators, and designed to build STEM thinking skills. They are enrichment to sit alongside school.
Avero Academy is not a school, a tutoring service or professional educational advice, and we don't guarantee any particular academic result.
Some missions suggest hands-on activities away from the screen. Please supervise these as you would any activity at home.
8. Our content
Everything in Avero Academy, including the missions, puzzles, story, characters, artwork and printable sheets, belongs to us or our licensors.
You may use it, and print mission sheets and certificates, for your own family's personal use. Please don't copy, resell, republish or share it more widely, or use it in a classroom or business, without our written permission. Teachers and schools are welcome to contact us.
9. Fair use
Please don't misuse Avero Academy. That includes trying to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to it, copying it with automated tools, or sharing paid access outside your household. We may suspend access where this happens.
10. Availability and saved progress
We work to keep Avero Academy running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may update, add or remove missions and features as the Academy develops.
Progress is saved in the browser on your device. We don't keep a copy, so we can't restore progress that is lost because browser data was cleared, private browsing was used, or the device was changed.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim relating to a paid membership is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Where the law lets us limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you and your child and how we handle it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Avero Academy grows. We'll change the date at the top, and if the change is significant and you're a member, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand. If you don't accept a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
14. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, and the courts of South Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
